Alicia Gutierrez-Romine is a historian and author. She specializes in California history with an emphasis on gender and sexuality, medicine, and race and ethnicity. She is an expert on the history of criminal abortion in the United States and is currently doing research on intersections of race, public health, and immigration in California and the U.S.-Mexico Borderlands.
